The Maine Dog Rescue a 501(c)(3) foster-based nonprofit is hosting Paws for a Cause on Sunday, September 20, at The Village Inn in Belgrade. The fundraiser will feature a live dog-training Q&A with Sara Sokol of Mr. Dog Training, appetizers and a large raffle.
Proceeds will support the rescue’s goal of creating a dedicated kennel and transitional living space for dogs in need.
As a foster-based rescue, The Maine Dog Rescue regularly hears from Maine families who desperately need to rehome their dogs but have nowhere safe to turn. Foster homes are limited, shelters are often full, and some families specifically want to avoid placing their dogs in a traditional shelter.
The rescue hopes to create a temporary, home-like space where dogs can safely stay while a suitable forever home is found. The ultimate goal is to be able to tell a family facing the difficult decision to rehome their dog, “We have a safe place for them.”
