First AKC Temperament Test in Maine Held by On Track Agility Club of Maine

First AKC Temperament Test in Maine Held by On Track Agility Club of Maine

On July 9, 2022 On Track Agility Club of Maine held the very first AKC Temperament Tests in the State of Maine. The two tests were held at North Star Dog Training School in Somerville and administered by two AKC evaluators. 15 dogs passed each test to earn the AKC ATT Title.

The ATT is a non-competitive, pass-fail test that screens for fear, shyness, inability to recover and lack of cooperation. Desired traits are that the dog will be emotionally stable, inquisitive, appropriately social, biddable, and recovers from a startling situation in a reasonable amount of time.

The ATT is open to all purebred and mixed breed dogs.

Dogs must be at least 1-year old to take the ATT test and dogs who do not pass the test may retest when ready.

Dogs who pass the ATT twice under two different evaluators may earn the ATT title and list the suffix after the dog’s name.

On Track Agility Club of Maine is planning to hold another AKC Temperament Test; watch the Downeast Dog News Calendar of Events for date and time.
