Welcome to October! I think this is one of my favorite months because we get to dig out and snuggle in the cozy sweaters. I get to make soups that are hearty and nourishing. The changing leaves are glorious, and the air reminds us to start hunkering down and preparing for winter. Less shedding with four dogs is also a plus! I put the call out on my Sara Moore Enlightened Horizons Facebook page for your questions, and I’m excited to share these with you! Just a reminder that psychic insight is never a replacement for licensed veterinary care. Enjoy!
Kristen H. asked about Trudy, her Corgi/Heeler cross. “Why is she such a nervous Nancy with new people and extra on guard on our walks?” She is so funny because she is absolutely not equipped to be your or anyone’s protector, and so many people ask so much of you that she is trying not to be a burden but really needs your guidance! She is trying to be a big girl and not be scared, but it’s not working. I know you don’t mind being her protector so just let her know it’s absolutely all right to trust you, and you’ll talk her through anything she needs to be in the loop on. I actually see her relaxing more on walks and sniffing her heart out moving forward!
Sharon B. submitted, “My 13-year-old Nadia has pancreatitis and her back legs aren’t as strong as they were. Is she in pain?” Her back legs feel very weak and like they’ve lost a lot of muscle, especially the left outer hip. Pain? No. Exhaustion and fatigue, yes. Gassy belly, crampy around her diaphragm and my mouth is watering, but she’s hesitant to keep swallowing. She’s showing me her laying on her side and doing deeper breaths and almost panting. When you see that she says it’s a sign to check with the vet to see if it’s time. (Just a reminder I have zero medical knowledge about what I’m relaying!)
Cindy T. wants to know if Willa, a 6-year-old Great Dane, enjoys the doggie daycare sleepover when she’s away. “Are you treated okay and have enough bathroom breaks? Why are you afraid in the house? Are you hearing or seeing anything that frightens you?” It’s not her favorite but it’s fine! She prefers to be with you at all times, but I will say it also feels like she’s laying the guilt on pretty thick in her reply. LOL! She’s treated like a queen there with more than enough potty breaks. In the house all of the human’s thoughts float above her like alphabet soup and that’s what she’s looking at. It’s not fear, it just feels like a lot of energy around! Nothing negative, but until you go outside and take a clearing breath, it just gets more dense.
Leisa R. asked, “What helps Cali, my red Pit/Chihuahua, feel better with acid reflux? Anything else you want me to do?” I’m laughing because a few minutes ago I got heartburn, which I’ve only had when I was pregnant or if I take Advil! It’s not me I’m feeling but her! It’s awful and hot in there right in the center of her breastbone. She’s showing me half a banana before a meal, but I’m not a vet so see if that could help? She says the acidity in yogurt does not help.
Finally, Pam D. asked why Cheyenne is suddenly acting out. She’s only a year and one month and a Black Mouth Mountain Cur. When I feel her body, her right eye feels strange to me. Not a tumor, but I’m wondering if her vision is a little wonky? I’m wearing reading glasses, but the way it looks through her eyes is like she’s wearing a contact lens that isn’t in correctly. Her eyes feel like they have a wet film over them and blinking isn’t helping.
