Lilac is a 7-year-old Staffordshire Terrier who needs to leave shelter life in order to survive! She came in with her male friend, Blue, and their 3 puppies in February after being surrendered to RPC because their owner could not care for them. She is the sweetest girl you could ever ask for. (Blue is also available if you’d like to adopt them both! See adoption page 13.)
Months have passed and they are still at the shelter. Lilac is now showing signs of great stress and her body is showing those signs, too. Still, she remains a happy girl when outside of the shelter, but that all goes away when she returns.
Do you have room for Lilac and the time that she will need to regain her strength and normalcy in her life? Here is what she needs…..
A quiet home where she can live stress free. A retired couple, a couple with no young children, or a person who wants a lot of love and cuddles would be perfect. Lilac loves to cuddle!
A home with no other dogs as she will want and need you all to herself. She doesn't do well with other dogs, unfortunately, other than her lifelong companion, Blue. She is not reactive to other dogs on walks, though. She paid no attention to cats when we tested her at the shelter.
Ideally a home with a fenced yard so that she can enjoy the outdoors and be safe. She can be timid on walks and need some encouragement.
Her foster parents will need to follow our very strict diet plan for her and be willing to be in communication with us during her stay to monitor her progress.
And we at the shelter are of course hoping for a foster family who may just fall in love with her and become her forever family.
If you feel that could give Lilac the foster home she needs, please email email@example.com or call us at 743-8679 and ask for Pat.
