Barkwheats™ Speaking in Statewide Leadership Series
Barkwheats will join Filebusters of Lisbon and farming cooperative leader Equal Exchange in presenting on entrepreneurship and social responsibility.
Stockton Springs, ME, January 7, 2009- Barkwheats Dog Products, LLC will be speaking in Lewiston, Maine as part of MEBSR’s (Maine Businesses for Social Responsibility) 2009 Statewide Leadership Series entitled “Social Responsibility is Smart Business”. Other businesses on the panel include Filebusters, a woman-owned business in Lisbon, and Equal Exchange, known around the world for their fair traded coffee and chocolate.
“To be invited to participate in a leadership series discussion is an amazing honor. Knowing that the mission behind our great dog biscuits is getting peoples’ attention lets us know that environmental and social responsibility is at the forefront of the consumer’s priority list” says Chris Roberts.
Social justice and environmental stability are built into the core mission for Barkwheats Dog Biscuits. The subject of the discussion will be “Entrepreneurship and Social Responsibility: Partners in Prosperity”. Barkwheats will be discussing their implementation of farmer networks, importance of “zero waste” in the creation and end use of their products, and how to integrate a higher level of environmental and social performance in local businesses.
