Midcoast Rabies Clinic
The Humane Society of Knox County is sponsoring a Rabies Clinic on Saturday, January 17, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. at the shelter facility at 65 Dexter St. Ext. in Thomaston. Dr. Glenn Yovino of Harbor Road Veterinary Hospital will be in attendance.
The cost is only $10 per pet, cash only please. There have been incidents of rabies in the Midcoast area so now is a great time to be proactive. Even though your pets may be indoors, a rabies vaccination is still a good idea. Protect your companion animals with a vaccination. A rabies vaccination is required to license your dog in the state of Maine; deadline to register is January 31 at your city clerk’s office. Microchipping of your pet by shelter staff will also be available at the rabies clinic. Microchips are a painless but effective way to provide permanent identification of your pet. Micro chipping is $25.
Please bring your cats in a proper pet carrier and your dogs on a leash and last record of rabies shot if applicable. Kittens must be at least three months old and puppies must be at least four months old. For more information about the clinic or the organization call 594-2200 or visit their website at www.hskcME.org.
