Guide to Dog-Friendly Parks, Beaches and Trails in Maine

New directory lists more than 300 places to have fun with your dog

Rockland, Maine - Downeast Dog News has announced the release of "The Ultimate Guide to Dog Parks, Beaches and Trails in Maine," a one-of-a-kind directory to hundreds of places to have fun with your dog in Maine. Released in June, this 56-page guide comes in response to the most frequently asked question received by the popular monthly newspaper, Downeast Dog News-"Where in Maine can I walk, hike or swim with my dog?"

"We receive inquiries about off-leash dog parks and dog-friendly beaches all the time. The questions come from Maine residents and tourists alike" according to Holly Sherburne, publisher of Downeast Dog News. "Until now, there was no single resource for that information. Publishing this guide was a way of gathering this information to share with dog-lovers all over the state."

More than 300 parks, beaches and trails located statewide are organized by region for easy use. Each listing includes the name of the park, beach or trail; the location; whether it is on- or off-leash; rules or restrictions; the name of the organization responsible for the land; and a phone or Web address. Information for each listing was verified at the time of printing.

The guide also contains a list of dog-friendly transportation options such as ferries, and phone numbers and addresses for emergency veterinary clinics in Maine. As a bonus, more than $100 worth of coupons can be found in the guide for doggie daycare, boarding, dog washing, treats, pet-friendly lodging and more.

The guide retails at $4.95 and is available at retail stores throughout Maine and online at www.DowneastDogGuides.com. Wholesale pricing is available.
