The Makeup Shop kicks off "Beauty for The Beasts"
Portland -- The Makeup Shop, a unique beauty boutique and salon, is
kicking off "Beauty for The Beasts" a two-week fund raising drive to
support local shelters for animals in need. Up to 75% discount on
beauty services as a fundraiser for area pet shelters.
From June 23 through July 5th , The Makeup Shop is offering deep
discounts on beauty services with net proceeds to benefit the Animal
Refuge League, Animal Welfare Society, Friend of Feral Felines, and the
Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals. During this
fund-raiser, haircuts are $10 (a savings of more than 75%), and hair
color services and private makeup lessons are 50% off.
"With the downturn in the economy, more people are being forced to turn
their animals over to shelters because they can't afford to take care of
them and need to cut costs," explains owner Alise Snyder. "We want to
help out animals in desperate need, as well as those who want to feel
beautiful, but have had to cut beauty out of their budgets."
Snyder continues "Our team hopes to raise a minimum of $2,500. And with
the help of our wonderful customers, I know we will easily surpass this
goal."
The Makeup Shop, located at 605 Congress Street across from the Portland
Museum of Art, offers more than 17 national lines of beauty and body
care products, including Bare Minerals, Mario Badescu, Duwop and more.
Beauty services such as esthetics, nail, massage, and hair services are
also provided. The Makeup Shop is open Monday through Friday from 10 am
-- 7 pm, Saturday from 10 am -- 4 pm, and Sunday from 12 -- 4 pm.
