Workshops Open House Features Family Portraits

ROCKPORT, Maine – On Sunday, June 29, Maine Media Workshops welcomes the community to the school’s annual open house.

From 10AM – 2PM visitors are invited to bring the whole family (including their canine friends) for snacks and beverages under the dining tent and to tour the campus. Workshops faculty and staff will be available to answer questions about photography and filmmaking.

This year's open house features a photo studio in our sound stage where free family portraits will be taken and prints provided for families to take home. Canon will showcase the very latest of their digital imaging technology.

Joining in the festivities are several local vendors catering to the canines in our community. Loyal Biscuit, Critter Outfitter, Bone Heads Dog Walking, and the Camden-Rockport Animal Rescue League are among the businesses that will be on hand with tables of merchandise and product and services information.

The Open House and the Workshops William Wegman special evens the preceding day (Saturday, June 28) are all free and open to the public thanks to the generous support of Camden National Bank.

“We look forward each year to introducing more members of the community to the school and to welcoming back longtime friends” says Charles Altschul, Workshops Executive Director, “This region is very supportive of the students who travel here from around the world each summer. We want to let community members know about the educational resources we offer for them year-round.”

Now in its 35th year, Maine Media Workshops offers over 450 of one- and two-week workshops and for photographers, filmmakers and media artists. Programs are available for working professionals, serious amateurs, and high school and college students. Professional certificate and MFA programs are also available through Rockport College.

Campus tours are also available throughout the summer on Thursday afternoons at 1PM.
