Maine Disaster Animal Response Team Training
As we move in to the end of Winter and beginning of Spring, thoughts turn to warm weather, flowers and sun...but do you also think about flooding, summer storms and the upcoming hurricane season? If disaster planning is something that you think about, or may be part of your job, have we got the training for you. In conjunction with the State Animal Welfare Program, The Humane Society of the United States' DART training is coming to Augusta on May 2nd through the 4th.
This training, Disaster Animal Response Team, covers a wide variety of topics, from personal planning for you and your pet, to community planning, to assisting on a Disaster Response Team and everything in between.

Remember that Maine is not exempt from disasters...remember the ice storm, or Hurricane Bob? What about recent flooding last spring? If you love animals, please get active in disaster planning and ensure their safety along with the rest of your family.
Also, if you are interested in doing more with disaster preparedness and response, The HSUS has its team of NDART (National Disaster Animal Response Team) responders who are deployed by request to assist in natural and man-made disasters across the country. These responders were recently utilized during the Puppy mill Seizure in Buxton. This DART class is a requirement to have completed if you want to become an NDART responder.
