SoPoDOG Teams Up With So. Portland Land Trust

The South Portland Dog Owners Group is teaming up with the South Portland Land Trust to improve the amount and quality of open spaces in South Portland. The South Portland Land Trust has a committee of several individuals working toward the development of a walking trail system in the western part of South Portland. The committee is named the West End Trails Committee (WET). The WET connected with SoPoDOG based on shared commitment of the groups to improve and increase the open spaces in the City of South Portland.

The WET Committee has completed one of their walking trails, which includes a wheelchair accessible trail, called Clark\'s Pond Trail. This trail is located near the Maine Mall-Home Depot and more information can be found at: www.sopodog.com under the link for "Open Spaces" and at the South Portland Land Trust website: www.splandtrust.org.

By next spring it is the hope of WET to have a new trail open: The Red Brook Trail, near the Shops at Clarks Pond by the Maine Mall.

Volunteers and members are welcome. Opportunities for volunteer work are varied, from working on the committee on a consistent basis to helping work on the trails on specific work days.
