Green Acres Launches Don't Let Your Walk Be A Drag Campaign
[Bangor]--Walking the dog should be an enjoyable experience for the guardian and the dog. Unfortunately, all too often the walk ends up with the dog choking and gasping for breath and the human bemoaning the pain in their shoulders and arm as they are jerked down the road. In an effort to alleviate the suffering by both the humans and the dogs, Green Acres Kennel Shop is launching their Don’t Let Your Walk Become A Drag campaign at the Bangor Humane Society Paws on Parade on Saturday September 29th, at the Bangor waterfront, from 9AM to 3PM. Green Acres Certified Pet Dog Trainers will be on hand to demonstrate reward-based training techniques and non-punitive tools to teach the dog how to walk with slack in the leash.
Too often people try to get the dog to walk on a loose leash by using metal and nylon choke collars and prong or pinch collars. These tools work by causing the dog pain and discomfort and unfortunately also have side effects such as creating aggression or causing damage to the dog’s spine and trachea. Since they are seldom used properly, the dog also frequently continues to pull on leash.
As part of our campaign, Green Acres staff will also demonstrate, and offer for sale, the latest, non-punitive tools used to help to teach a dog to walk nicely. The SENSE-ible Dog Harness™ by Softouch Concepts and the Easy Walk Harness and Gentle Leader® Head Halter by Premier give the handler the control they need without causing the dog pain and discomfort. All of these products will be sold at a $3 discount. An additional $3 discount will be offered for guardians that trade-in a choke or prong collar.
The Green Acres Don’t Let Your Walk Become A Drag campaign will continue at Green Acres on Saturday October 6th from 9AM until 4PM with two Walking Politely clinics.
