Planet Dog Foundation Woofminster Dog Show & Cover Dog Challenge

The Planet Dog Foundation Woofminster Dog Show Fundraiser is an event being held for well-behaved dogs and their people to raise money for My Wonderful Dog. The event will feature a Dog & Person Look-Alike Contest, Silly Pet Tricks, Best Howl, Best Dancer, Longest Tail Wag and the Cover Dog Challenge. The best all-around pooch will win a professional photo shoot and the chance to be on the cover of the next Planet Dog catalog. People without dogs are welcome as well.

Roaming judges will also be awarding prizes for longest tongue, most prolific drooler, most mixed mutt, longest tail and cutest couple.

In addition, the event will feature a silent auction, featuring items from local business partners. Items include a kayak from LL Bean, a mountain bike from Kittery Trading Post, a golf set from Golf & Ski Warehouse, an all day spa package for two at Akari, a custom men’s suit from Joseph’s and much more. There will also be a raffle for a beautiful, eco-friendly Vespa.

All proceeds from the event will benefit My Wonderful Dog, a Portland non-profit organization that specializes in the training of skilled animals to aid in the independence and integration of people with a wide range of disabilities (www.wonderfuldogs.org).

When: Saturday, October 27th from 1:00 - 4:00 pm (registration begins at 12:30)

Where: Camp Ketcha, Scarborough, Maine (336 Black Point Road, corner of Route 77 and Route 207)

How: Tickets are available in advance for $15 for adults and $5 for ages 10-18. Children under the age of 10 are free! Tickets day of the event are $20, but space is limited. Tickets can be purchased at the Planet Dog Company Store (211 Marginal Way, Portland).

Planet Dog is a Portland-based socially responsible designer, manufacturer and retailer of award-winning products for dogs. The Planet Dog Foundation (PDF) is their non-profit organization that promotes and celebrates programs in which dogs serve and support their best friends.
