Art Auction To Benefit Homeless Animals

Art by some of the finest local and national artists will be auctioned to benefit the Humane Society of Knox County at its annual Art for the Animals Auction Friday, August 10 through Sunday, August 12 at our new venue, Watts Hall in Thomaston.

Over 200 pieces will be available for bidding including photography, paintings, signed limited edition prints, and posters. The event also includes pottery works, books, handcrafted woodwork, B&B stays, and hand made quilts. In addition, artwork from inmates at the Maine State Prison will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to support our K-9 Corrections program which teaches at-risk prisoners and at-risk homeless dogs the skills to become safe members of society where at risk dogs are housed in the prison facility to receive training.

With prices from $10-$3,000, there is something for everyone. Restaurants in Lincoln and Knox County are joining in with gift certificates again this year because food is art, too.

This year will also include a live auction of select art and our Pussyfooting Around fiberglass cats painted by local artists. Held on Saturday evening, the live portion will be called by local auctioneer Kaja Veilleux of Thomaston Place Auction Galleries.

All of the donations may be previewed on the Humane Society’s website at www.HumaneSocietyofKnoxCounty.org. Click on the Art for the Animals icon.

This event is open to the public with no admission charge. For more information, contact the Executive Director at 594-4897.
