Extraordinary man and dog need your help
Dear Friends, a remarkable man needs your help.
Truly dogs' best friend, Michael Keenan was pet-sitting for a longtime friend when a fire broke out in the apartment building on Feb 6, 2007. Michael escaped, but returned to save Bobby, a Jack Russell Terrier, from the burning building when he realized that he was still trapped inside.
Now Michael Keenan is in the Intensive Care Unit at San Francisco General Hospital suffering 2nd and 3rd degree burns on over 80 percent of his body. Despite the long odds, we are pleased to report that Michael’s incredible courage and strength have enabled him to survive this terrible ordeal. His recovery, however, is going to be long and incredibly difficult.
Bobby is also hospitalized with severe burns, but we are also pleased to report that, with the help of the good folks at Pets Unlimited in San Francisco, he is also on the road to recovery (he’s even been able to take short walks in the nearby park). Read more about this incredible story here.
As a self employed artist, Michael does not have insurance to cover his rehabilitation costs. Thankfully, a Trust Fund to support Michael’s rehabilitation has been established by his brother, Jim. The Planet Dog Foundation has made a $1,000 contribution to the Michael J. Keenan Support Fund, as well as a $500 donation to Pets Unlimited, which has donated its services to Bobby’s cause.
We are writing today to ask for your assistance. Here are some ways to help:
• Donate to the Trust Fund online by visiting www.michaeljkeenan.com and clicking “Make a Donation”.
