Don Hanson Elected President of the APDT

[Bangor]—Don Hanson, co-owner and Director of Behavior Counseling and Training at the Green Acres Kennel Shop in Bangor, has been elected to a one year term as President of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). Hanson is currently serving his second three year term on the APDT Board of Directors. He has also served as APDT Secretary, and was APDT Vice President in 2005 and 2006.

The Association of Pet Dog Trainers is the largest organization of dog training professionals in the world. Founded in 1993, the mission of the 5000+ member APDT is “Promoting caring relationships between dogs and people by educating trainers in canine behavior and emphasizing professionalism and reward based training.” The APDT headquarters is located at 150 Executive Center Drive Box 35 in Greenville, SC 29615. Hanson is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer, Certified Dog Behavior Consultant, Bach Foundation Registered Practitioner animal specialist and Therapy Dog Evaluator. He and his training staff first introduced clicker training and the concept of “dog-friendly” training to the area in 1997. An experienced speaker, Don has lectured on pets, behavior and the Bach Flower remedies in the USA, Canada, the Caribbean and Japan. Since January of 2005 he has been on WVOM-FM every Sunday night with “The Woof-Meow” show. In its third year, the mission of the show is to educate listeners how to care for and train their pets.

Green Acres Kennel Shop offers Boarding, Daycare and Grooming for dogs and cats as well as behavior consultations and training classes. Their retail store offers a wide variety of wholesome pet foods and treats and quality supplies. In business since 1965, Green Acres has been voted the best kennel in the Bangor region for the past five years.
