New England Border Collie Rescue's Annual Fund-raising event, Dog Dayz of Summer III, will be held on Saturday, August 2nd from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (raindate: August 3) Gate price: adults $10, kids 5-16 $2, under 5 FREE. This is a family event with dog sport demos, vendors, agility run-throughs, a huge canine themed raffle, lunch, doggie games and much more. 2nd Annual Bark in the Park

Dogs and their families are invited to enjoy an afternoon of baseball while raising valuable funds for Maine's homeless animals.There will be dogs up for adoption, a grassy relief area, wading pool, canine watering station, dog treats and games for pups and their families. Dog valets will also be on hand to care for pets so people can visit the concessions. All dogs must have a ticket and dog tickets are limited and MUST be purchased in advance. More than 200 pieces will be available for bidding including original paintings, signed limited edition prints, photography, pottery works, handcrafted woodwork, hand made quilts and much, much more. Boatyard Dog Trials
Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Show, Rockland
Dogs and handlers will run a timed obstacle course that might include negotiating a tippy dock, jumping over lobster crates, getting in and out of a small boat, or fetching bizarre objects from the water. A short "freestyle"act of your choosing is also required. Costumes (for dog, owner, or both) strongly encouraged. Any well-behaved dog is eligible; preference given to dogs that work in a boatyard, or crew on a boat, or direct operations of any kind on the waterfront. No other animals are allowed on show ground. Downeast Dog Scouts Troop 159 August Meeting
Learn more about the Downeast Dog Scouts and meet troop members and their dogs during the August Meeting and activity. The Downeast Dog Scouts Troop is a membership organization in Hancock County that promotes responsible dog guardianship and increases the awareness of the human/canine bond. Get wet in August on the BRLT ‘Tails on the Trails’ walk
Kitzi Colby Wildlife Preserve kiosk and parking area, River Road, Edgecomb, 3.2 miles from Rt. 27 on the right.
Barbara Gibson and her Bernese Mountain dogs will lead a walk at the Boothbay Region Land Trust (BRLT) Colby Preserve. There is a short loop trail, 0.6 mile leading to the river. Be prepared for a romp in the water! Bring water shoes for yourself. Rich in history, this cove was once the site of salt works, ice works, a brickyard, ferry landing, sawmills and gristmills. Now in its natural state, the Salt Marsh Cove is of environmental importance to the health of the Damariscotta River. The ‘Tails on the Trails’ series of dog hikes will occur once a month on the third Friday at a different BRLT Preserve. Well socialized canines and their humans are welcome; open to all the public if you enjoy dogs, free of charge. FMI: 633-4818.
