Location: Lincoln Home in Newcastle. The Animal House of Damariscotta and the Rotary Club will join forces to host a pet education fair fundraiser for area animal shelters and rescues. Hogs for Dogs Poker Run
The Southern Maine Portland Chapter of the Harley Owners Group is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Hogs For Dogs Poker Run. The motorcycle ride will begin at Big Moose Harley (375 Riverside Street) between 11:00am and 1:00pm. Your poker hand will be ‘dealt’ out at different stops along the way. Guided tours of the Animal Refuge League will be available. 50/50 raffle and door prizes. $5.00 entry. FMI: Call the Animal Refuge League, 854-9771.

Art for the Animals Auction

To benefit the Humane Society of Knox County. Over 200 pieces will be available for bidding including photography, paintings, signed limited edition prints, and posters. Also pottery works, books, handcrafted woodwork, B&B stays, and hand-made quilts. All of the donations may be previewed on the Humane Society’s website at www.HumaneSocietyofKnoxCounty.org. Boatyard Dog Trials
Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Show, Rockland
Dogs and handlers will run a timed obstacle course that might include negotiating a tippy dock, jumping over lobster crates, getting in and out of a small boat, or fetching bizarre objects from the water. A short "freestyle"act of your choosing is also required. Costumes (for dog, owner, or both) strongly encouraged. Any well-behaved dog is eligible; preference given to dogs that work in a boatyard, or crew on a boat, or direct operations of any kind on the waterfront. No other animals are allowed on show ground. Coastal Humane Society is pleased to join with Unleashed Modern Pet Care Solutions who will host a dog wash on our behalf. Dogs weighing up to seventy pounds may be washed for only $15, dogs over seventy pounds for $20. Includes shampoo, conditioner, cologne, and ear clean. For an additional $5 dogs may be treated to a nail trim. Clean pets are happy pets!
